Otoplasty
The ear with its location along the outer contour of the face is an essential factor for its proportionality and harmonious profile. The ear is not only an auditory analyzer, its shape is also an important aesthetic component.
Otoplasty is a short surgical procedure with impressively good, immediate results that can be performed under local anesthesia. The operation affects the various dysmorphies / defects / of the auricle / protruding ears /. It does not affect cases of ear loss or the so-called small ear, which are the result of unilateral facial atrophy. In these cases, more massive surgery is required, with general anesthesia and cartilage implant transplantation. Otoplasty can be performed after the age of 9, as the development of the ear as an organ has already ended.

Operative intervention:
The essence of the operation consists in modeling the cartilage and correcting the position of the auricles by means of specific surgical sutures. The scar is very fine and well hidden in the crease behind the ear. There is no risk for the patient!

Duration: 45-60 minutes

Anesthesia: Depending on the indications, otoplasty is performed with local or general anesthesia.

Postoperative deviations:
Patients rarely experience pain, which if necessary is successfully controlled with analgesics, mild discomfort for 2-3 days;
Numbness of the adjacent tissues for about 6 weeks.

Risks:
Asymmetry. Inflammation of the cartilage of the ear. Deformations. Straightening the newly formed fold. Aspirin is prohibited 7 days before surgery because it increases the risk of bleeding during and after surgery.

Recovery:
The dressing is removed on the second day after surgery and the head can be washed. Ear band is worn around the clock for the first 14 days. On the 14th day of the operation, the sutures are removed. After the 14th day, the tape is worn for another two weeks, but only at night. For the first 45 days after the operation, it is forbidden to wear glasses. Exercise after 3-4 weeks. Final result approximately 3 - 5 months.
